Nomadland 2020
Mixed feelings about this film, and wouldn't have been my choice for BP. It's just too beautiful and operatic, too many gorgeous vistas side by side sanitized and romanticized depictions of poverty and min wage labor. That it can cut from the awe of a coastal tempest to the facade of an Amazon warehouse without creating some horrible existential dread or revolutionary message to me indicts it. But Frances McDormand is excellent, and it certainly has its moments.

All Light, Everywhere 2021
Vital, elucidates a critical nexus of power in our time: point of view, technology, and policing. Axon radiates a powerfully evil energy that the film captures at a masterful remove. Cops and corporate actors indict themselves with subtle gestures (well, sometimes very baldly too), and with all we know that isn't stated. Won't lie I was getting sleepy by part 3 so looking forward to a rewatch.
