  cannot stop thinking about the footage of a cop cutting the word "reconciliation" (painted on a plywood sign) in half with a chainsaw... that really says it all!!

  had to put the hater goggles back on to see if I still had the capacity to think a movie is bad. turns out yes! this is a film absolutely brimming with interesting ideas directed by the complete wrong person, and also the songs were mostly just straight up not good. who knows if Audiard could have made this a better film if he wasn't trying to adapt it from his earlier operetta, but I have to imagine the women…
