    Tigers Are Not Afraid

    ★★★½

I was very surprised at how much I ended up enjoying Tigers Are Not Afraid, especially going into the movie blind. The movie depicts a somewhat surreal perspective from the children but nothing to the point of distracting you from the mood of the film. The mood is very dark and morbid focusing on a group of…

    Election

The top of the list for the sub genre of Christmas horror. Black Christmas paved the way for future slasher movies. Well made slasher movie that elevated horror movies one step closer to blockbuster cinema in the early 70’s. Directed by Bob Clark best known for the porky’s movies and a Christmas story which is heralded as one of the most popular Christmas movies of all time. The voyeurism of the film is amplified with the killer stalking girls in…

Also co staring Marilyn Monroe early in her career and a very young Brooks from Shawshank Redemption. Sterling Hayden plays one of his best rolls as a hard nosed tough guy recruited for the heist. A cunning noir heist film with great characters and a great cast. The setting in a dark, bleak, crime ridden town add to…
