It was in this watch that it really clicked for me how much Crowe was homaging/ ripping off this movie with the Penny Lane quaaludes scene in Almost Famous. (I know he's said Penny's coat was an homage to Fran's.)
but the line that got me this time was at the very end - and maybe it was because it was on the big screen, it was like I'd never heard it before. "We'll send him a fruitcake every Christmas." WE'LL!! And there's your happy ending, right there.

oh my goodness. SO GOOD. The best YA movie I've seen in a LONG time. And in the top 5 best, probably. There were literally shots that felt like they were ripped from one of my novels and just transported from CT to the most gorgeous Canadian lake setting ever.
