  A modern-ish Alien subbing out the badass female with a equally badass criminal. Very much love this, like most 2000s action/scifi movies. A lot of brutal deaths in this one as well, but the core story of intrigue in Riddick and surviving on a deserted planet was very enjoyable. Might have to see how the unrated cut is

  Out of all the Carpenter films I've seen this is easily his best.

  The Thing is in all sense of the word a masterpiece, and that comes in terms of many things. It excels in being a well done entry in the horror genre providing both a chilling atmosphere and effects that still rival today's movies, but also I think it makes a good case of being an amazing mystery thriller too
