The most surprising thing about this was how weirdly self aware it is. Like the score is so insanely dramatic at all these moments that are just guys walking through hallways. It feels like a knowing wink across the room.

The sets were interesting too - I was surprised at how roomy some of the interactions were. The auditorium and the conclave were both very tight but plenty of scenes were wide open with windows and light and space between the characters.

I enjoyed this! Would watch again even if just for the fun robes and cunty gossip.

Unbelievably goofy, which felt just right given the times. It shared a lot in tone with Don’t Look Up but had a more coherent point of view. I don’t think I’ve seen political satire in the sci-fi context before, but it felt very natural in Bong Joon-ho’s hands.

Been talking with a bob dylan accent all day. It’s intoxicating.

Left this movie feeling deeply confused, intrigued, and moved. Reminds me of the feeling of reading a poem I don’t understand, but it has lots of amazing lines. This movie is stocked with amazing scenes, but I’m not sure I really get what’s going on in a comprehensive way. I think that’s ok. I’d like to watch it again, maybe after reading some more in depth analysis about it.
