    Thor: Love and Thunder

    ★★½

When I first saw Thor: Love and Thunder in theaters opening night with a pretty full crowd, I thought it was just a fun ride from start to finish and maybe my expectations were low enough going in, but clearly they were not low enough on a rewatch.

Some of the humor works but, not really, there are a few cool moments, action sequences and some amazing visuals sprinkled throughout and a good performance from Christian Bale as Gorr, even…

    Donnie Darko

    ★★★★½

Donnie Darko is the definition of "cult classic" and seeing it on the big screen nearly twenty-five years later, illustrated that. The eeriness, the intrigue, that bit of creepy factor to it and the young, star-studded cast.

A young Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Seth Rogen, Jena Malone, Ashley Tisdale and Crazy Steve himself, Jerry Trainor. Not to mention Drew Barrymore and Patrick Swayze.

I'll be thinking about that third act for a long time. Cailee Spaeny is a star!

    Fly Me to the Moon

    ★★★★

Fly Me to the Moon was one of my most anticipated movies of the year and while it was different than I expected, it was different in a good way. Much more of a dramedy than romcom and just so well done.

Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum certainly elevate this, as does Woody Harrelson, but really, the entire cast is great.

The thing I think I loved the most about this is that it felt like an old school movie, like something that would have been made in the 70's.
