  loved the style of this, amateur acting but in a way that feels realistic, brooklyn in the 80s, creole nyc, dark but in search of lightness

  sadly this led me to read more about Peck as a man and, despite his sympathies seemingly with the people of Haiti from a left perspective, it appears he weirdly denounced Haiti’s first democratically elected president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide. sad

  incredible acting from stan and strong, on the edge of humanizing these monstrous figures but somehow their performances leave something alien and unforgivable too central to their lives for the audience to cross into sympathy
