Do you know how damn hard it is to convince people to watch this movie? Do you know how ridiculous I sound saying that the third Exorcist movie is not only better than the first, but actively one of the best horror films ever made? Damn them for not naming it something else.

Watched as a double feature with Legally Blonde, at a drive-in theater on Cape Cod, in the flatbed of a pickup truck with three cis-het men that I dragged along, borderline against their will. Just as God, the founding fathers and Greta intended.

Saying "let them know men did this" right before you kill a character who has been built up as essentially a SA victim is fucking insane to me, shoot the writer who came up with that

A24-ass, unoriginal, market-tested, eye-candy propaganda piece that portrays people who are mad at the rich as lying, perverted leeches that just want to steal their wealth. And FURTHERMORE, remember how the trailers gay-baited this as a queer erotic horror? And then it turned out they just didn't deliver on…

    Hereditary

    ★★½

Something I'm noticing about the trend of "elevated horror" movies is that they're often a character-driven drama first and a horror movie second. For me, Hereditary is an example of how this doesn't always benefit the film. The first three quarters of this movie are pretty great- a unique, disturbing and emotional plot that slowly but steadily amps the tension to a sickening peak, carried through by an absolutely killer cast.

But when we reach the final act, and the…
