a well executed musical biopic of robbie williams. real standout musical numbers and sequences and some perfunctory drama.
you have to wonder if the box office rejection of this was due to the monkey. they severely overestimated the creative appetite of robbie williams fans (geriatric millennials and gen x). remove the monkey and this makes bank.
as a fan of monkeys, i liked robbie as monkey and it was used quite well throughout. wouldn’t stake 100mil of australian taxpayer money on it but hey.
when this film is lasered in on the trump / cohn relationship, it’s golden. it does get caught up in the movie of the life biopic pitfalls by the second act, but that trump / cohn stuff closes everything well.
technically appreciated how the various eras were evoked by the presentation and the needle drops are fun.

Avatar 2 is the uber-Cameron film, a glorious combination of all the director’s favourite hits and misses:

3 hour plus runtime
and true to the title - this movie has a lot of water.
