Bit of an odd movie to watch in our current time. While of course this is likely one of the best war movies around, the blatant, almost gross levels of superficial sentimentality here (when juxtaposed to the reality of the USA) leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But there are certainly still phenomenal, deeply moving scenes past some of the bland and propogandistic modern or outside of combat scenes. Still definitely a classic for good reason.

What a beautiful movie. I certainly cant do it justice how meaningful and important and beautiful this is. This will stick with me for the rest of my life. Infuriating, hopeful, heartbreaking, moving, any and every word I could throw at it couldn't get near how this movie makes me feel.

Robert you've done it again. Phenomenal on all fronts, Orlok is absolutely one of the best vampires put to screen. His voice and heavy footsteps and every display of just how powerful he is is seared into my brain. Stunning and unique cinematography. Both a fresh interpretation and familiar. Every shot is beautiful. The acting is perfectly theatrical and Gothic (whatever that means to you). My eyes were glued to the screen the whole time. Excellent pacing, not a moment wasted and not a moment rushed. Fantastic on all fronts. I am appetite, nothing more.

I am a Yorgos stan. The dialogue is very (purposefully) stilted and mechanic and offputting, very well written. Obviously with the stacked cast and fantastic shots its very hard for this to be anything other than greatly enjoyable.
Part 1:Very well done (if blunt) portrayal of the intersection of class with abusive relationships (and how class itself is an abusive relationship with the same dominance and control schemes. How capital controls us down to the socks we wear. Though there…
