  The most surprising thing for me was that how elementary school in Japan has not changed since I was a student there. Classroom, desk, school bag, cleaning practice, lunch distribution….. everything was exactly the same.

  Revisited this movie after many years, now being adult and have lived in NYC and went to so many Broadway show, I appreciate this movie so much more. Top notch acting from all the main cast members and gorgeous set. Funny but also philosophical. One of the best Allen movie.

  Story of working women in 50’s in Japan. Strictly about working women without being melodramatic. Naruse should be more recognized as he made movies that are so different from other famous Japanese directors from 50’s and being so ahead of time.
