Jacob's Ladder 1990
My cup of tea.
Without giving too much away, this is NYC psychological horror film about a father suffering the consequences of war.
The father part being key in keeping me invested in the conceptual exploration or death, hell, loss, etc.
I found the unfolding concept to be airtight and felt deeply connected to the journey Tim Robbins’ character goes on all the way to the end.
An ending which I thought really sticks the landing — rare!

Likely one of my favorites this year. I’m holding half a star because I felt like the end was a bit abrupt and I didn’t feel like it “stuck the landing” on first watch, but wow. Did not expect this to go so hard, be so beautiful and be this challenging.
Acting/casting is easily 10/10. The cinematography and production design alone had me teary eyed several times in the first two acts.
