I really went in with low expectations today n this one. So many bad reviews out there that I was like “for sure it can’t be that bad”. And it’s not…but it also is. It’s about 30 min too long, there’s a lot of parts that are perfect for looking away from the screen, I think I fell asleep when Chris Pratt was introduced. Black Bag 2025
This movie doesn’t deliver anything truly new to the spy thriller genre, but that’s not really a bad thing. It’s stylish, the acting is good, probably not as tense as it could have been…but still really enjoyable. And a tight 90. What does work is Fastbender and Blanchett. I really wanted more time with them. But it was really nice to see a power couple playing spy games. Their chemistry carry’s the film where the tension just can’t get there.

The asthetic on this one! Take Tim Burton minus some of the goth and crank the whimsy to 11. Willem Dafoe and Mark Ruffelo steal the show. Emma Stone should be nominated for this one for sure. I know she’s respected but I still believe she is wildly underrated.

A Different Man 2024
In an interesting twist, we have something that resembles the substance. Similar themes, but very different in its approach. Slower and much more contemplative, but still packs a punch on the message and absurdity. I did find myself wondering how much longer the film was, but the acting is pretty great.
