One thing I especially love about this first Evil Dead film is how the deadites look utterly nauseating, just totally ugly (the white and red eyes certainly help with this). When you get into the sequels and Ash vs Evil Dead, their designs become more refined, which makes sense considering the bigger budgets, but the pure disgust with which they look here certainly plays into the horror. Raimi was absolutely off his head when making this, don’t know what he was on (I mean this as a compliment, goat).

So a cinema/movie theater in my city showed the extended edition of this movie today. I’ve only ever seen these movies at home and only the theatrical editions. Watching this on the big screen was an unparalleled experience. I did miss the first half an hour cos I was late (which did upset me) and it would’ve been awesome to watch that prologue on a cinema screen, but it was still amazing.

So I rewatched the Raimi trilogy a few weeks ago…. And yep it’s still as awesome as I remembered. I tried to keep nostalgia out of it on this rewatch, and I think I (mostly) succeeded. To people who hate these movies or say that us Raimi fans are jUsT bLinDeD bY nOsTaLGiA, number 1- you’re wrong
