The Greatest Show on Earth 1952
Great spectacle broken up by dramatic elements that admittedly don’t always work and feel repetitive causing the long runtime to drag a bit. The train wreck and many entertaining circus segments make up for this for an overall solid feature. Not worthy of best picture but far from the worst to receive the honor.

A very original and poignant examination on personal transformation. Explores in a very neutral and sometimes humorous way what it can be like when the life you’ve built and person you want to be clash. Watching Vera reshape her identity while André struggles to understand feels more universal and applicable than I first expected. Will be paying attention to Ernst De Geer’s future films. Impressive debut!

Next Goal Wins 2023
Mostly engaging feel-good sports comedy without much depth. As long as you like Taika Waititi‘s particular brand of comedy you should find enough to stay entertained and the narrative structure is cliche but uplifting regardless.
