Who knew that Kaurismäki, Tati and Kiarostami would cross paths at a Winnipeg’s surreal Tim Horton’s that is unable to be anything, but a Persian Tea House? Who knew it would be my favourite movie-going experience of the 2024 in 2025? I wish everyone today would be able to steal like Matthew Rankin and his team to make something so organic, funny, sentimental, and original. I was grinning the whole Q&A, it was a magical night, I feel rejuvenated, everyone needs to go and see this film.

Cute that they put all these exciting tactile investigative things in there, filmed it so stylishly, and the marketing was amazing, like truly very intriguing.
Too bad that it turned out to be all on top of such a half-baked stupid idea with the dolls and stuff, and the mystery barely holds itself up even in the first act. I stopped caring as soon as that girl fell asleep on the floor with all the evidence. And it doesn’t help…
