  Phantom Thread 2017

  I feel like there’s a whole pile of movies that I just cannot write about, for whatever reason. Phantom Thread is now in that pile. I couldn’t even write this until a full day passed. I think this movie is a masterpiece in just about every way, but I really can’t explain why. Maybe I just feel like anything I could write wouldn’t be good enough. That the movie can only speak for itself. 

  Watch it on a rainy day.

  Still such a difficult movie to describe, but also still brilliant. Freddie Quell and Lancaster Dodd are both top five PTA characters.

  Dude I gotta stop watching movies that are so hard to process on the first watch. I really enjoyed the experience, but also… what? Like seriously, what the fuck? I don’t even know anymore.

  Boogie Nights 1997

  ★★★★★ Rewatched 02 Mar 2025

  Wooowwie!! Somehow even better the second time. It was a lot of fun seeing this in a theater with a bunch of people who clearly hadn’t watched it before. Every time a big moment was coming up I waited to hear how they would react, which made the whole experience even more fun and intense.

  The Alfred Molina scene remains an all-timer.
