This is tight, and fun, and I was really enjoying watching it. And then it ended when I thought we were just getting to the third act. The way it ended felt more like a TV episode than a complete thought, to me.
That said, I’d recommend it to anyone.

The plot sounds generic, but these characters have real lives inside this world. They have good sides and bad sides; they don’t usually fall into the cliches that you’d think the movie is setting up.
Melanie Griffith is really good at this quiet timidity while still being determined. We can empathize with her because she is neither arrogant or a doormat for the plot to happen to.

A very cute movie with a cool mix of hand-drawn and digital animation. I knew nothing going into this and I pleasantly enjoyed all of the “origin” sequences in the second act. Didn’t love the rom-com miscommunication thing toward the end, but overall it was a good time. Big “Emperor’s New Groove” vibes.
This is stunning. Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman are absolutely amazing here. It won’t be, but this should be Anthony Hopkins’ second Oscar. The first time a character looks different was really interesting, and the first time a piece of dialogue is repeated took this to a whole other level for me.
