  Big Trouble in Little China 1986

  This gives me some strong Temple of Doom vibes, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think my fatal flaw was watching this by myself, I can definitely see it being a lot more enjoyable when watching with a decent group where everyone can have fun ripping on how absurd it is.

  I have very similar feelings about this as I do with Aquaman 2018. It's honestly "not great" but the things it excels in are so inexplicably amazing they make the movie waaaaaaay more fun to watch than it really should be.

  I think I'm just too much of an asshole to fully enjoy this. I can see the appeal, it's got a lot of personality, goofy charm, and the central theme of the movie is genuinely sweet and endearing. I imagine it hits especially hard for those who grew up without a father figure, and that's pretty cool, but... eh, I just have too many problems with this script.

  Okay so I am in love with this premise and the ethical nightmare it presents. Those first 40 minutes where all the rules and the world are established are really enjoyable, I was loving it!
