The First Omen 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Amazing film. It needs a couple of watches before its full depth is revealed. It’s worth it, trust me.
Obviously it had to hit a few targets in order to satisfy those of us who love the original starter film.
The era had to be accurate. It delivers on this with an affectionate nostalgia. The clothes, styling and atmosphere all hit the mark.
It had to end with a direct link to the next film. This is hammers directly, which…Translated from by -
American Mary 2012
Ooooooooooh yes. This is my bag.
Mary is a star! Gorgeous, skilful, ruthless and totally focused. Divine.
I am not going to comment on the male characters. Their behaviour is impactful multiple times but they are completely inconsequential.
Love it!Translated from by

The Dead Thing 2024
I struggled with this one. I enjoyed it. It’s definitely worth the watch. I advise you let it take you in. The performances make this easy actually. Despite the peculiarities. The peculiarities are needed to maintain the metaphor within the narrative. And that’s where I started to get detached. How do I rationalise the two realities? Because they are absolutely mutually exclusive. And I am way too literal in my perspective, I know that. Anyway . . .
I was reminded of The Entity (1982) at points and was dreading it getting worse for Alex (despite the orgasms). You’ll have to watch it to find out.Translated from by -
Heart Eyes 2025
I enjoyed this. Optimistic horror is pretty much our whole existence right now. Good to see that we can have great hair and care about having fun at the same time as accepting we need to run and possibly fight for our lives through no fault of our own. Yeah, that’s how we live now.

Past Lives 2023

I really liked the first act. The friendship of the children and the setting. It was beautiful and atmospheric. I did not much enjoy the rest unfortunately. I could not relate to the characters nor their decisions. I had one very strong emotional reaction. This was when Hae Sung travelled to the US. It was anger. It tapped into my resentment that my autonomy has not always been respected. His encroachment on her life was inappropriate in my view. The restaurant scene was agonising. Just awful. The ending was icky. No, not for me.

Halloween Ends 2022

This worked for me. I am glad I rewatched HK in preparation. I think the two films fit together well as a necessary resolution for what has become an insurmountable challenge that has played out for decades.
How to solve a problem like Michael? And not turn the lore into silly, superficial fluff, and Laurie into nothing more than a last girl (ironic, I know)? In HK the community has been so frozen in fear that it starts to implode.…
