As a Tibetan, its rare for me to see nuanced approaches to Tibetan culture in film and animation from outsiders. I knew what was coming, but I was morbidly curious enough to give the Chinese/Japanese 2011 film "Tibetan Dog" a shot. There's something breath-taking about how Satyajit Ray depicts his characters and the human condition. The family-drama premise of this film is so simple, yet it also serves as a deeply nuanced and sensitive reflection on India's westernization after independence and how it continues to shape the Indian consciousness.
