I really loved this. It’s less a haunted house movie and more a study in family dynamic. It’s heartbreaking to watch Lucy Lui dote over her golden child son, and ignore her daughter who is suffering having just lost 2 friends to what appear to be overdoses. Lucy Lui is incredible though, and gives one of the best performances I’ve seen at the finale of this film. It’s chilling and spooky, but also very sad.

Don’t go into this wanting jump scares. It’s a really devastating look into the life of someone who is battling dementia-and also being tormented by John lithgow. Getting old is scary, and perhaps that’s the real monster of the movie. They play with the *is he just crazy or is this real* trope but with dementia “blips”. It’s incredibly acted and genuinely unsettling. I would’ve like the camp to have been turned up a notch, a little more Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? But that’s ok!

I haven’t enjoyed myself in a theater this much in a very long time. This is truly great body horror. Great performances all around. Left me speechless and cannot stop thinking about it.

This was a surprise for me, knowing minimal about Robbie Williams going in. I knew the hits, having been Brit-pop obsessed in the late 90s thanks to the Spice Girls. I left being a fan, with the story and music winning me over in a rare way for a biopic. It leaves the eye-roll tropes of most music biopics and instead goes for the ludacris nature of what being a pop star is. And yes, he’s a chimpanzee. Honestly you forget about the whole chimp thing 10 minutes in.
