    Hopkins and Skarsgard are both pretty good in this, so it definitely ends up having its moments. Still, it doesn’t really feel like it goes much of anywhere. The only character development between either of them isn’t a huge leap nor does it make a great impact on the story. If you think you would like hearing Hopkins being a snarky, psychopathic fascist that loves the sound of his own voice, you’ll probably like this. I feel that Heretic executed something similar to much greater effect, though.

    The idea of giving Snow White more agency and creating more depth in the story is obviously good, but absolutely none of the ways in which this film attempts to do that work at all. It’s genuinely impressive how bad all the changes made in this are. The original songs and revamps are also really not great, saved only at times by the strength of Zegler’s singing voice.     TSA copaganda where racial profiling is a cutaway gag, minority side characters are killed off for fun, and every twist is predictable. Incredibly boring with bad action as well. It at least looks decent most of the time? I don’t know man.

    This is actually my first non-modernized Jane Austen adaptation, and what a first indeed! Anya Taylor-Joy IS Emma Woodhouse here, out-charming the rest of the cast seemingly easily, and I think this is a rather good ensemble. Her platonic chemistry with Mia Goth is so good too, when they smiled together I could not help but smile from ear to ear. And then the art department - the production design is so magnificent, and the costumes are all just wonderful.…
