  A movie with a lot to say but not quite sure how to do so with interrupting itself.
  I really liked the initial premise and the performances from Pattinson, Yeun, and Ackie, but overall the "story" just feels like a collection of ideas without a clear narrative through line. It's not bad, but it's not satisfying.

  So it's Christine with a toy monkey instead of a car? Unfortunately, Perkins is no Carpenter.
  Like Longlegs, I liked elements of this, but it just never came to a satisfying whole. I was just waiting for it to be over by the end.

  This isn't perfect, but the vibes are impeccable.
  Eggers clearly tries to pay homage to the classics while also putting his stamp on the story. Even if it never reaches the unsettling heights of Murnau or Herzog, the performances here (especially from Lily-Rose Depp) are fantastic.
  If anything, Dafoe and Depp are so mesmerizing that they actually overshadow Bill Skarsgård's Orlock.
