I recently saw a post on /r/film: “is two montages in one film too many?”. Why is OP so frigid about montages? Films that have more than four montages; moving along time, changing seasons with songs… the careless use of montage is freedom dude! Freedom from time, from diegetic contagion!

Michele’s out of pocket tendency to speak in absolutes is sometimes really funny, sometimes unnerving but the whole thing is a wonder.

Godard awakened the potential of jump cuts because, apparently, the film was too long to run and so out of necessity he removed bits of scenes.
