  This is marketed as a comedy/horror and I think that is inaccurate. There is an element of irony to the cinematography designed to reflect how we placate, downplay and trivialise women’s lived experiences, while moments of levity remind us of the highs and lows that are natural to motherhood.   There’s so many films doing the “forced trad wife” trope and this one just felt less convincing. If you’re looking for this concept, but better, try “Held”. However, this film is very pretty. Sadly, despite it being visually beautiful it’s a bit dull.

  So, I get that this was a metaphor for childhood trauma. However, I fully don’t care. This creepy cosmic horror energy was on point. This was just everything you want in a horror film: characters you liked, dialogue you believed, decisions that frustrated you, creepy suspense… absolutely spot on. Every film I’ve seen so far at FrightFest has lost its way with the ending. This just slapped from start to finish.
