    the characters - young as they may be - experience a macroscale problem of unifying and organizing precisely because they have no other choice in their reform school - rife with brutality and tragedy. once they leave, how are they supposed to unify under so much pain? these grievances - petty as they may be - this world is not meant for them.

    every goddamn time i watch an edward yang movie im usually floored. a true filmmaker able to actively attune himself to the struggles of a nation and all generations that encompass it, though here it's keyed into the listlessness of being a young professional and all the heartbreak, pain, and beauty associated with it and how those feelings manifest between people of the same age group, as they grow more disparate, their pain is *everyone's* pain. absolutely beautiful stuff!!!!!!!
