  Snow White 2025

  There’s two movies in this movie: a pretty terrible beat for beat Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs remake with some really rough CGI, and a more updated adaptation with a bit of snarky banter and the slightest bit of adventure. The second one is fairly enjoyable, with the chemistry between Snow White and the “Prince” character pretty good (the two of them overall were the clear best parts of the movie). But for more of that, just watch the first…

  Star Trek 2009

  ★★★★½ Watched 16 Mar 2025

  Even if you’re not a Trekkie (like me), there is no way you don’t get chills when you see the Enterprise for the first time in this movie. And the prologue with the Kelvin will make you cry every time. This is a solid sci-fi/action movie that uses the Trek lore and characters in interesting ways. But more than that, it gives fresh takes on the characters with Karl Urban’s Bones and Simon Pegg’s Scotty being particular standouts.

  There’s a fantastic coming of age movie inside this horror movie.

  This is the horror movie that got me into watching horror movies just because I loved the Losers going through their summer and tolerated the horror elements that punctuated all the Stand by Me-esque scenes.

  Wonder Woman 2017

  ★★★½ Added

  When Wonder Woman emerges from the trenches into No Man’s Land….chills. It’s an instantly iconic scene and the beach scene on Themyscira is one of the best action scenes in the entire DCU.

Following
