  Excellent action scenes. Vastly improved over the first film’s already exceptional filmography of supersonic jet sequences and San Diego beaches.

  It’s a miracle that a soft reboot manages to pass the torch without absolutely defacing the original characters. In fact, the continuation of maverick’s arc in this film not only seemed like a natural progression, but a necessary one.
