The iconic "I can't handle the truth" speech lived up to the hype, and Sorkin is particularly well suited to the tennis style back and forth in the court room. What surprised me was how much the film was a showcase of the classic Tom Cruise star persona.

Also, a special note for the cinematography, this feels like one of those movies they'd make a clickbait-y Youtube video titled "Why can't movies look like THIS anymore?!" about.

A very strange movie to watch today. On the one hand, the world in which free premium channels is the ultimate social currency seems like a distant memory, but the idea of someone whose mind was warped by getting lost in the messages of media and now terrorizes the world feels more relevant than ever.

Fairly classic late period Soderbergh in that it's both entertaining, stylish and well made, and raises the question of, why did this movie need to exist? It's enjoyable throughout, but feels a bit cold and removed, which means that you don't really feel the ostensibly global stakes of the film, and it feels more like a strange parlor game played by a very cool couple.

Starts out relatively strong, and there's some fun in the Final Destination style waiting to see how this situation goes totally awry. Tatiana Maslany is really fun, and I actually did not even realize the kids were played by the same person, but once the movie jumps to the present day, the urgency is gone, and it drags before finally ending, which isn't great when a movie is 98 minutes!

One interesting thing is how no matter how much time advances, someone's childhood in a movie always has to feel like the 70s or 80s.
