    Jackie’s second failed attempt to break into Hollywood. I watched the HK version since I’m addicted to mutant films that meld together disparate visions. Jackie wasn’t happy with Glickenhaus’ final product, so he went and reshot some of the fight sequences, added a subplot that includes a new character, and cut some of the raunchier elements (mostly nudity and cursing). Though Jackie also for some reason decided that in the redubbed Cantonese dialogue, Kim Bass’ character should be called “Blackie”…

    I was shocked and thrilled by how this feverishly speed runs through Arthurian legend and feels all the more powerful for it. It’s that sheer compression that almost includes everything (I was half expecting The Green Knight and/or Tristan and Isolde to get nods somewhere along the way) that made it so compulsively watchable.

    That and how temporally unmoored it all is as a direct representation of the shifting malleability of Arthur to the times in which the tale is…

    Calling this a movie is generous. It's really just a bunch of quips wrapped up in IP management (and good luck if you haven't been following this shit for 20 years) and content made for Youtube explainer videos. Mostly, this just served to remind me that Marvel has nothing to offer anymore.
