Hardware 1990
The ideas punch above the production quality but this sci-fi thriller has some messages for us in its future about democratic governments leaning toward fascism, the notion that the smartest beings on the planet are working towards its annihilation and the dangers of unfettered technological development. If you go in expecting the look of a Terminator or Alien, remember that this was very much an indy effort and released to arthouses before going to VHS hire (and was a decent sized hit at the time) if you can look past that and focus on the tale you'll probably enjoy it.

Outpost 2022
Fine performances and an interesting take on PTSD from domestic violence set this up well enough but the dodginess of the premise that the main character would be considered for a second for the job keeps surfacing every time she loses control. Some decent action choreography and gore scenes work well but it didn't hold together for me.

The Face of Another 1966
A dual-thread story about a man with a facial reconstruction and a woman disfigured from the atomic bomb blast in Hiroshima struggle with their identity which is at odds with the way the world sees them. Not cheery but not meant to be. Japanese cinema was recovering from the war and then the US occupation and a vein of cinema emerged that focused where they as a people were going and how much of their culture could or should stay intact. Hiroshi Teshigahara made few films but the trio he completed with the source novelist and composer here were masterpieces.

The Lonely Spirits Variety Hour 2022
If you like whimsical humour played with excessive mugging and cutesy dialogue you might like this. What does it say about a comedy when the best scenes depict the protagonist in a coma? Not for me although I bet it worked better on stage where it began.
