A short and sweet slice of life film from Shunji Iwai. Not a whole lot happens, but the experience was still enjoyable nonetheless. Iwai perfectly translates the feeling of a Spring spent in Tokyo. I can’t help but smile as the protagonist rides her bike though the streets, cherry blossom leaves falling around her.
Behind the visuals lies a relatable story about loneliness and love. Love transcending distance is one of my favourite tropes.
