Goofy little comedy. Impressive setup for the backyard scene, quite an entertaining payoff.

It’s pretty shallow, but still fun. Lots of cultural runoff from this, I was surprised how many scenes and quips I had seen before.

Great film. Excellent character building and a very unique story. Pretty and intriguing. Suspenseful moments have you gasping at the situation, particularly with the practical effects utilized.

Friedkin is quickly becoming a favorite director. I love how bluntly he tells stories. There’s a level of awe and romance within this work, but it’s not spoon-fed to you. What could be a pretty uneventful plot is woven into a powerful narrative. Loved the setting. Would recommend.

It’s a semi-shlocky action-romance, and you know what? It delivers just fine.

It doesn’t push the envelope too far in terms of creativity, but it also wasn’t totally formulaic. Maybe “high art” demands leaving more up to ambiguity and mystery, but I kinda appreciated having everything shown to me, even if it was just “bioweapon gone wrong” and “evil capitalists”. At least it was written out and delivered rather than the all-too-common trope of interesting scripts writing themselves into a…
