Uhh… kinda campy, but not even that. Just weak and uninteresting. Stiff performance from Seyfried. Whatever plot, stitched together like a Disney Channel movie. Not much expected, not much to say. Maybe would make okay background noise?
That was pretty terrible. I got Don’t Look Up vibes from this, which is about as bad of an insult as I can give.
This movie prioritized making a political message above all else—creativity, cinematography, emotion, and intrigue—and it doesn’t even have anything interesting to say. The basic gist is that you watch Mark Ruffalo do a Trump impression while being an incompetent and manical ruler of zealots.

It’s a semi-shlocky action-romance, and you know what? It delivers just fine.
It doesn’t push the envelope too far in terms of creativity, but it also wasn’t totally formulaic. Maybe “high art” demands leaving more up to ambiguity and mystery, but I kinda appreciated having everything shown to me, even if it was just “bioweapon gone wrong” and “evil capitalists”.
