It's a bit like the "Color Out of Space" (the short story), but with the lightning.
If you can swallow the basic premise of the homicidal electricity (affecting even things that doesn't work with electricity like faucets, shower sliding doors or old phones), then this is a neat little horror movie.
It has that nice 80's vibe in it.

This is either a very stupid movie, or....
    ....wait...
    ...uh, sorry.
There doesn't seem to be any other option.

    Space Dogs

    ★★

I really, really WANTED to like this movie.

It has killer concept; two stray dogs (and a rat!!!!) are kidnapped from the streets of 50's Moscow and forced into Soviet space program!
    Great idea! Great setting!

    Sadly... everything else sucks.
Jokes are lame, animation clumsy, designs are either awfull or stolen (Ratatouille could sue). Story lacks coherence and credibility, even in surreal animation standards.
And, a weird thing.... this movie REALLY doesn't give such a good impression of the Soviet system than it clearly thinks it does!
Their treatment is rather horrible if you stop to think about it!

    The Sleeping Dictionary

    ★★

Weird effort to romanticize and criticize the colonial era at the same time. And awkwardly failing at both.

The movie is so professionally made, it gives you an illusion that the makers know what they are talking about. But Sarawak wasn't a British Colony at that time, it was a British Protectorate. And the whole key concept of the "sleeping dictionary" was invented by the screenwriter, loosely "inspired" by the old Iban marriage tradition.

So... we have a movie defending…
