The hole’s too small. Can you please make it bigger?

The Loved Ones is easily one of the most unusual, creative, and gleefully demented films I’ve seen in a long time. It’s seriously creepy, shockingly violent, and deeply unsettling—and I loved every twisted second of it.

I challenge you not to feel a little sorry for Lola the first time you see her all shy and awkward, but I assure you, it will pass long before she starts throwing rocks.

Nobody puts Princess in the corner, that’s for sure!

This is where the franchise settles into real camp and silliness—not that I mind much, though.

Jill Valentine’s outfit can’t possibly be regulation police uniform. Maybe it’s comfortable… but the real question might be: Do I want gun-toting badass women with long legs in high boots fighting zombies and other assorted creatures?

    Well… yes, please!

So, my son wanted to watch A Nightmare on Elm Street, and as luck would have it, I had the 4K Blu-ray on hand. Immediately after the film ended, he asked if we could watch the second film too.

    Proud dad.

    Child's Play 3

    ★★½

    Presto! You’re dead.

Chucky gets right to it in this installment—no skulking around and hardly any initial pretending to be a cute doll. The wisecracking has escalated too; Chucky’s basically a killer doll doing part-time stand-up comedy.

But… even though the story barely qualifies as a story and the change of actor for Andy is a small disaster, I still find Child’s Play 3 a little charming. It’s not good, but I sort of enjoy it. And the ending is ok.
