The Substance 2024
I wanted this to be better than it was, but I think it contains some of the shallow cruelty of Death Becomes Her. It is a smarter, better movie, for sure! And yet I still caught a whiff of that lesser movie’s judgment re vanity. Demi Moore is wonderful in this, and my pick for best actress.

Feel like I’m goin crazy here because I hated this. The most high school, cornball writing on Diana’s life. There were multiple lines (ie “Well I think their [camera] lenses are more like microscopes!”) where my husband and I exchanged A Look in the theater.
