We’re completionists for this weird series of home defense fantasies starring child actors. This was in fact a great Xmas movie: straightforward, predictable, paced for TV & short enough to watch with the kids before bedtime. The real lesson at the heart of the Home Alone saga is: cops don’t help. If you can wrap your head around the idea of French Stewart playing Marv and that this totally different set of actors is somehow the same family as the first two movies, I’d still maybe see something else. I enjoyed the badness of it though, it’s an acquired taste.
Saw this on the big screen at a local theater! Saw a lot more detail than at home, even caught a minor continuity thing. (Also: keep your eyes peeled for a THX-1138 license plate!)
What’s to say about this film? It’s a hazy polished cherry about the “glory days” of American culture: big cars, cigarettes, chasing girls, enjoyable poppy tunes, casual misogyny.
