  The Joke fell flat.

  This simply did not work as an animation. The sting of Moore's panels was gone. Maybe some things are best left to their own medium.

  I am a golden God

  Authenticity vs Image. This for me seemed to be what was at the heart of Almost Famous. At every level this conflict is apparent. Penny Lane, Stillwater, Russel Hammond (Crudup) and of course William (Fugit). Authenticity is a virtue they all desperately want to possess, a virtue that is displayed intermittently and abandoned often in preservation of image and mystique.
