Most will compare this film with Todd Haynes masterpiece I am Not There, a film which captures the multiple different Dylans perfectly and understands his significance as a cultural figure, and is definitely the better rendering, but nevertheless this offers pretty enjoyable fare for Dylanheads. The Seventh Seal 1957
The image of the knight playing chess with death is iconic, and what first brought this film to my attention. The black and white adds so much I think to the brooding atmosphere.The plot is simplistic,but not predictably so, and deal with relevant questions about the human condition and our relationship with our mortality. This film really made me feel uneasy about the ideas it raised.
