Novocaine 2025
There’s exactly one original idea in Novocaine, and they stretch that gimmick pretty far. Everything else (comedically costumed bank robbers, useless detectives trailing two steps behind, Jack Quaid playing a lovable dork,…) has been done better many times. It’s trying a little too hard to have a heart, but would work better as pure comedy.

Mikey Madison is great. The henchmen are great. I had a good time. Just can’t shake the feeling that Baker dropped the ball with Ani’s character. She’s got no interiority until the very last scene, and her actions range from street-smart to unbelievably naive based on whatever any given scene needs. Bad sign when the titular character is left this unexplored.
