The Hunt for Red October 1990
I really enjoy this movie. The story is fun and the action fairly unique. I don't find myself caring about most of the complaints people have against this movie. I forget Tim Curry is in this every time I watch it and his is the best performance in it. Sean Connery, James Earl Jones, Sam Neill, and Scott Glenn also give great performances. Alec Balwin's is fine, I guess.

I love me a flying saucer and there's a severe dearth of good movies about 'em. This film is exactly what I was waiting for. As good a film as Close Encounters is, I much prefer the story Nope has to tell.

Sometimes your favorites become your favorites because you watched them at the perfect time to be best impacted.
I watched Harvey not long after my parents told me about the nature about Santa Claus and his pantheon. The story of Jimmy Stuart's defiant belief in face of all opposition really resonated with and comforted my little devastated self.
