a total overwrought, bloated mess. despite its uncalled for run time it manages to say nothing, have no point of view, and somehow no characterisation. it’s not political enough, not biographical enough, and not dramatic enough. with three and a half hours of film and fifty million sub-plots or vagaries it manages to neither resolve or explore any of them. take every oscar away from it now.

it’s been a fair few months since i last saw this and it still hits just the same. incredible set and sound design. there really is nothing else operating on this level in recent memory.
watched in 4DX with ScreenX. probably the most chaotic and bizarre movie watching experience ive had. nearly threw up during the final battle scene.
movie was fine i guess. apes doing ape and now sort of human things.
