  An underwhelming let down. I'd been looking forward to this with the idea that Sean Baker films are ones to look forward to and now I feel differently about that and maybe even his previous films. So it goes sometimes. Like, I gather that his whole thing is shining a light on "marginalised" people...but as the light gets brighter it seems to me to reveal that there's less there, as if he's less interested in/capable of empathising with and writing…

  I unironically love that old timey striptease song with all the lewd horns. and now I love it even more when Gene Hackman is taking off his clothes to it in a crowded diner where he was just about to knock a guy's block off for messing with quirky lil Al Pacino

  I'm imagining Kevin Costner pitching another post-apocalyptic movie after Waterworld and leading with, "I think it was the water. There was too much water in the last one" and then following up with an explanation of what a "body father" is. ngl there was a minute or two I felt a little proud about being a postman myself but that was smothered by a billion gallons of patriotic boomer sauce.
