  I first saw this when I was 6 years old. I remember coming out of the theatre and standing in the parking lot, in awe of the surrounding mountains. Idk how much of that was because I still thought I was Native American at the time. Anyway, that was my last memory of Washington.

  The glimpses at Hasidic Jewish life were fascinating (so many social and religious parallels to my own -much more chill- Islamic upbringing) and there were some truely emotional scenes but there were many moments that fell flat.
  I really wanted to like Berlin and her friends there but it just felt one dimensional and they tried to make it not by repeatedly mentioning the holocaust but Ester didn't really feel conflicted by that so neither did I. It ended up ironically feeling like German propaganda.
  I think this is a story that should have taken its time developing character instead of chasing plot points.

  Wetlands 2013

  I used to think this was my favourite movie then I went to film school and developed taste (shame) so I didn't watch it for years in fear that I would realise it's a Bad Movie as The People say and I was a Filthy Person for loving it.

  It sure does look and feel different now that I can see the seams but that made the experience even better. This wasn't just shocking for the sake of being shocking,…
