Dialogue was way too consciously quippy (had a Gilmore girls effect)… didn’t believe the chemistry between the two leads (the anrgument for gay anctors playing gay roles is more about capacity for believable chemistry to me, both of these actresses failed at portraying a believable desire for their co-lead imho) and the buildup to the love affair felt rushed.

Really subtle and morally complex, to the point where a Sedevacantist or a progressive/feminist Catholic could project whatever they want onto the movie and confirmation bias their way into whatever moral messaging they want to take from the movie—not sure if that’s a success or a failing given the constant stress on decision making free of ego in service of collective morality and function. In reality I don’t think the movie takes a conservative or progressive stance, instead posing questions…

Aesthetically giving Netflix and Sidenote I always hate when they make something a period piece and then that decision feels completely inconsequential also couldve trimmed a half an act on each end
