Mickey 17 is dark, dystopian sci-fi but also one of the weirdest funny movies l've seen in a while, kinda like lIdiocracy in space. Pattinson proves (again) that he can play literally anyone, and Bong Joon-ho balances sharp comedy with some real gut punches. One scene involving a dog-like alien wrecked me, but overall, this is top-tier, thought-provoking sci-fi. I gotta check out the book Mickey 7.

This is non-lethal vs. ‘less lethal,’ channeling Rambo’s ‘they drew first blood’ energy while taking on police corruption and the Black American experience. Don Johnson is the best he’s been in years, and Aaron Pierre is locked in—I want more from him. It runs a little long, but every scene earns its place, building tension like water on the verge of boiling over.
4 out of 5 ...is it about Alzheimer’s? It’s probably about that. I have no idea.
