Felt so choppy with constant tonal shifts and awkward timing. I think there is a genuinely entertaining family film in it, if it were edited better maybe? But the pacing and timing of everything was just so messy.

You can chalk it up to trying to the director wanting the film to be simple enough for kids to understand, but we have relatively recent 3D animated films with established IPs like The Mario Bros (also Christ Pratt btw) and The…

Loved the film's timeless theme of how innocent creative introverted types tend to get exploited by the seemingly innocent members of the community.

Also love how this was Burton's self portrait fairytale for his teen self.

One of the best parts of course is JD's and WR's undeniable explosive on screen chemistry.

Possibly Burton's simplest and best film if i'm gonna be honest. There's just something so pure about a director's first batch of movies.

I definitely will NOT be watching this film again any time soon in order to preserve whatever semblance of sanity I have preserved in my brain, but that does not mean I didn't enjoy the film. I actually freaking loved it.

Moral of the story: don't be a people pleaser lol

The way the film just slowly makes you feel more and more uncomfortable as each scene passes is such a trip. It goes from a tolerable level of uncomfortability to completely traumatizingly horrifying in such a gradual slow burn kinda way. Reminded me of how Jordan Peele films feel like.

Safe to say my stranger danger trust issues have significantly increased because of this film
